Deanna LaPlante Mountain- Pimihawin Piyesiw Iskwew (Flying Thunderbird Woman) is an urban member of Beardy’s & Okemasis Willow Cree First Nation, where her mother is from. Her father has Métis roots in Batoche but was raised in the boreal forest. Leaving her with a boreal heart and prairie bones. Currently, she resides in Calgary, Alberta.
From childhood, she was encouraged to be creative and resourceful like other women in her family. Her grandmother once even won a contest for embroidery. As an adult, Deanna has been lucky to be mentored by Yvonne Jobin.
She completed all home-tanned hide used along with Angel and Alex of Indi City.
